The book bags have been purchased and the supply list has
been sent out… Riley Foundation Supply Our Students is in full
swing!!
United Way Board of Directors and volunteers, NAS Shipmates and
Meridian Public School District staff are set to fill the more that
1000 book bags on July 13, 2006. Per the request of Riley
Foundation’s Becky Farley, and Meridian Public School District
Superintendent, Sylvia Autry, this year the book bags will be
distributed directly to the elementary schools. “This ensures that
100% of the book bags will be distributed to 100% of the children
that need them” stated United Way Executive Director, Thad Quarles.
The book bags will be given to the deserving children at the
beginning of the school year. Studies show that children receiving
the book bags, helps to build their self-esteem and puts them on a
level field to start the school year.
