Well
known local artist Greg Cartmell recently donated his painting “Last
Light” to benefit the United Way 2007 Capital Fund Raising Campaign.
“This is a very special contribution,” said Campaign Chairman Gary
Wilkinson, “it represents a piece of our community’s art culture and
how it can be used to benefit our 17 partner agencies.”
The painting, one of Cartmell’s prototypical evening sky landscapes,
is scheduled to be moved to various locations during the coming
months to allow viewing. “It’s presently in the lobby of Bank Plus
this week so that people may purchase the $20.00 raffle tickets,”
said Wilkerson. “We’ll move it around to various locations over the
next two months and hold the drawing and announce the winner at our
Annual Meeting in March.”
Greg Cartmell is nationally recognized as one of the country’s
foremost landscape painters. Cartmell paints in the “plein-aire”
tradition of on-location painting. Cartmell’s impressionist style
focuses on the qualities of sunlight and its impact on the subject.
His works are in private and corporate collections throughout the
world.
